TUBE ANNEALING AND HEAT TREATINGS

Subjecting a metal to heat treatings, such as for example pipe and tube annealing (the most common of our heat treatings), means bringing it to a certain temperature, for a certain amount of time, and then letting it cool.
In the tube annealing of metal tubes and pipes, as in other processes, the arrival temperature and the holding time are always determined by the heat treating themselves.

GAMMA 3 fits into the field of tube heat treatings for an internal need for tube annealing for processing, but also for third parties.
We also have an automatic tube cutting line for a fast, precise and competitive cutting to length of metal tubes and pipes, which can be supplied with subsequent tube annealing or others heat treatings.
For the company’s usual processes, such as for example tube conification, tube bending and tube swaging, heat treatments on metal tubes have always been a constant need.
Tube annealing consists in bringing the material to a temperature that varies according to it, and then letting it cool naturally and gently.
After undergoing heat treatments, the material changes its characteristics of hardness and elasticity, which also vary according to the established temperatures and times.
Precisely for this reason, tube annealing is of great importance for GAMMA 3.
The company has an advanced oven in a controlled atmosphere to carry out heat treatings on tubes, pipes, and more.
The good loading volume, and the excellent length of the internal chamber, up to 3.2 metres, allow for tube annealing on all the sizes handled by the company itself.
The heat treatings of GAMMA 3 are done in a controlled pressure and vacuum chamber, therefore without encountering the possible problem of the formation of calamine, oxides, flames, and other problematic conditions for polishing.
Tubes can be annealed are in iron, brass and aluminium, for example to bring it to the T4 state suitable for deformation.
Other heat treatings available, in addition to tube annealing, are for instance stress relief and normalization.
On the other hand, hardening is not possible, as it requires other types of high temperature furnaces, and the annealing of AISI stainless steel.
The good load capacity of the furnace allows our customers to have a considerable cost containment with a complete charge, and, in the case of tube annealing, a certainly homogeneous, deeper heat treatment which does not alter the shape or section of the tube.
